How do I fill in Profile & Residency?

Open Profile & Residency, under Income. Choose your residence status and domicile (a year you have not saved yet starts at Not stated), tick split-year treatment, dual residence or the remittance basis only if one applies to you, then select Save. Nothing on this page is sent to HMRC.

Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. The video has captions: turn them on with the CC button in the player. You can also watch it on YouTube. The steps below are the text version of this video.

Before you start

  • The tax year you want is the one shown at the top of the page.

Step by step

  1. Open Profile & Residency, under Income. It keeps your residence details for the tax year shown at the top in EasyTaxer. Nothing on this page is sent to HMRC.
  2. Your name, date of birth, address and National Insurance number come from your account. To change them, select Edit in Account settings.
  3. Choose your answers. A tax year you have not saved yet starts at Not stated: EasyTaxer does not choose them for you. Choose your residence status and domicile, for example UK resident and UK domiciled, or leave them as Not stated if none of the cases in the note above the form applies to you.
  4. Tick split-year treatment, dual resident or the remittance basis only if it applies to you. Each one has an information icon that explains it.
  5. Select Save. EasyTaxer confirms your residency details are saved for the tax year.
