Which Self Assessment tasks do I do with HMRC instead of EasyTaxer?

Opting out, paying your tax bill, claiming a refund, changing payments on account, adding or closing a business and changing how HMRC contacts you are done with HMRC, not in EasyTaxer. HMRC services lists each task with a link.

Where to find it in EasyTaxer: Settings → HMRC services

A still from the video: a dark green title slide labelled MTD for Income Tax, Explained, listing three numbered steps, Opt out, pay your bill, Refunds, payments on account, and Businesses, contact details, with the EasyTaxer logo in the corner, under the title Tasks you do with HMRC.

  2. Opt out of Making Tax Digital (if you signed up voluntarily): in your HMRC online account.
  3. Pay your Self Assessment tax bill: directly to HMRC on GOV.UK. Payments cannot be made through EasyTaxer.
  4. Claim a tax refund: contact HMRC.
  5. Change your payments on account, add a new business or close one, and change your contact preferences: in your HMRC online account.
  6. Each link opens in a new tab, so you keep your place in EasyTaxer.
